Never have I ever dreamt about a Bible verse, let alone a chapter, but last night I did!
All day Matthew chapter 5 has been popping up in my thoughts, so I finally sat down and opened up my Bible to see what it had to say. Unfortunately, I don't have the best memory so I didn't know what Matthew had in store for me when I flipped to the correct page. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Introduction to the Sermon on the Mount, and smiled.
Matthew 5:3-10 -
"Blessed are the poor in sprit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
I will always love this passage of scripture! What comes next is what really made me smile, though.
Matthew 5:14-16 -
"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
These verses made me so happy because I am constantly praying for my YoungLives teen mothers to be a LIGHT amongst their peers. These girls are facing tough challenges in life; they have more responsibility than most of the college students I've met so far at Cal State Fullerton. Even though they may not have it as easy as other people, these girls keep coming back to YoungLives every month to learn about Jesus and I can clearly see what God has been working on in their lives. These girls are already light to their peers and I pray that over time their light becomes blinding!
Its just so amazing that I had a dream about a chapter in the Bible that correlates to something I pray about every single day (and that I had NO idea!). It was definitely a God thing, and I had to share!
